Anxiety is a natural response to danger, the symptoms of anxiety would be useful in a life or death situation; increased heart rate helps blood to flow around the body which means the muscles are ready to fight or run away, sweating helps your body to prepare for the action it thinks is coming because it will help you stay cool. Many anxiety sufferers experience nausea if you had just eaten a meal and were faced with a life threatening danger digesting that food would be taking up vital energy that could be used to make your escape.
Anxiety is said to be the most common of mental health issues, according to mind 1 in 6 people report a mental health problem such as anxiety or depression every week and around 25% of the U.K population is said to suffer with anxiety and depression but anxiety is not a mental illness, it’s not a disorder or a disease. As I said above; anxiety is a natural response to danger. Once I realised this I stopped trying to fight my feelings of anxiety, this was a major step in my journey to overcoming anxiety because as Carl Jung said, what you resist will not only persist but grow in size.
I had adopted a number of coping strategies which may have helped at first but over time they made my anxiety worse. I was not only worrying about feeling anxious, I was worrying about facing situations that made me feel anxious and coming up with all kinds of scenarios in my mind so I spent most of my time in the future looking for anxiety inducing scenarios and trying to block any negative or anxiety inducing thoughts. Anxiety not only made me feel bad, it caused me to get into all kinds of nasty situations, it stopped me forming functional relationships and it caused me to miss out on living a normal life.
Anxiety Is A Learned Response
Before the age of 7 our neuroplasticity is at its highest it’s in this age range that we are learning about ourselves, our environment. This time in our lives is known as the imprint period; it’s when we are learning all the most difficult and complex tasks; to walk, to talk, to feed ourselves. We are looking to the people around to help us understand the world and ourselves.
I grew up with a lot of dysfunction, I was constantly being attacked and put down. I was physically, mentally and emotionally abused. When I was a child I had internalised this abuse and thought there was something wrong with me. When I first started to uncover the deep seated beliefs and issues I had adopted I was angry but it is a presupposition of NLP everyone is doing the best they can with what they have, that hurt people, hurt people and I have to admit I had become pretty toxic myself, partly because I just didn’t know any better and partly because that was one of my ways to deal with the negative feelings that I was suffering.
We don’t have to have suffered severe dysfunction or trauma as children to have problems with anxiety just growing up in an environment where there is a lot of arguing can cause a child to think there is something wrong with themselves or the world, if one of our parents suffered with anxiety we will pick up on that and adopt the problem ourselves.
How Online Hypnosis For Anxiety Really Works
I reached a point where I realised that I had to do something about my anxiety issues so I started looking for solutions, I tried counselling which helped me to understand things a little bit more but I didn’t find it all that useful and then I tried EFT tapping. EFT is short for Emotional Freedom Technique, it involves tapping various meridian points around the body and I found it helpful at first but I wanted to do more to reduce my anxiety. You can’t run through an EFT tapping sequence in public, you will get funny looks and I was still too worried about how other people perceived me.
With Hypnosis I Was Able To Change My Whole Self Image
At first I wasn’t sure about hypnosis, I had seen people like Paul McKenna on TV and I didn’t feel comfortable giving away control of my unconscious mind to someone like that but I was really suffering and ready to try anything so I decided to give it a go and I noticed changes occurring almost right away.

In the first instance I would invite you to schedule a call with me via my anxiety page, once you schedule a time my booking software will automatically create a Zoom call for us to chat online. Zoom is easy to use, you just click a link and the software will prompt you to either install an app or open the call in your browser. In the free consultation session I will answer any questions or concerns you may have and you can tell me more about your problems. Once I am 100% certain I can help you to overcome your anxiety I will schedule another call for us and email you the Zoom link.
This second call will be an actual hypnotherapy session and it will last between 90 and 120 minutes. The first 30 to 60 minutes of the session will be talk therapy to get a better understanding of the issues, how and when you experience them. I will show you methods to help and often give my clients homework to do in between sessions.
The final part of the therapy session will be hypnosis, hypnosis helps with anxiety for many reasons I think the biggest benefits I experienced from hypnosis where that it helped bring me into the present moment, hypnosis is not sleep it is a focused state of attention and it helped me to visualise myself differently. The mind cannot tell the difference between a real or imagined event so when we visualise ourselves the way we want to be we create new neural pathways in the brain and can actually start to become that person. If you would like to find out more about hypnosis for anxiety or any other issues feel free to schedule a time when you can chat to me directly here.
